Do you get bored during the Summertime and need something to do?
Well I have the answer! You can make this glitter slime in 3 simple steps. Or so the recipe said. This slime was much more complicated than I had originally thought. But through experience, I will share my tips about how to make the perfect slime. It is sure to keep you or your kid busy.
Glitter or glitter glue
Contact Lens Solution
Spoon or Spatula
First, you will need to empty your clear glue into a bowl. I had a 9 oz bottle, so I only did about half. I wanted to use the clear glue originally because I thought my slime would be perfectly clear. Well that did not happen. When you add the 1 table spoon of baking soda, which is the next step, the solution is not clear. This is what my slime looked like after the baking soda was added and mixed:
What I would say is that the difference between the clear glue and the regular glue is that the clear glue makes it shiny. You can use regular glue as well. 🙂
Next, you will need to add your glitter. I used red and silver, so my slime ended up being a little pink. I just sprinkled some in and mixed that up.
After you have mixed in the glitter, you need to add 2 and 1/2 a tablespoons of contact solution. I ended up adding 11 tablespoons… (crickets chirp)(awkward pause) Yeah… I thought the contact solution would make the slime thicker and more mold-able. Once I did 11 tablespoons, my slime was still sticky as can be and pretty much in its liquid form Then, my younger brother comes and tells me. “You need to add baking soda. That will make it thicker.” He was right. Here is a tip: Add more baking soda if your slime is too runny. The recipe said add the 2 and 1/2 tablespoon of solution or until it becomes harder to mix. In the end, add the correct amount of contact solution and more baking soda if you want it to be thicker. The final result is:
I hope that the tips I have shared on how to make the perfect slime are helpful. I also hope this slime busts your boredom! 🙂
